For forty years, the Newport Opera House Association has helped to keep our beautiful Opera House alive as an integral part of the community.  Thousands of people have enjoyed NOHA productions, both as audience members and participants, and numerous community groups have made use our facilities.
Sadly, our theatrical lighting system is over 20 years old and is failing.  Our lights often begin to dim or blink during use.  Occasionally, they fail completely.  It’s a necessity for us to update and replace the system as soon as possible.  Total cost to replace the entire system is approximately $85,000.  This is above and beyond what we need to operate.
Luckily, we can do this work in phases.  By replacing the infrastructure, we can ensure the lights will stay on.  Follow up phases will allow us to replace the actual lights with state-of-the-art LED lights, which will save money in labor and maintenance.  But the first step – ensuring the lights will stay on – is imperative and will cost $30,000.
We are actively seeking funding through grants and other sources.  But we need your help.  Monies donated to this campaign will be used EXCLUSIVELY for our lighting project.  Several supporters have already made a generous donation. Click HERE to join them and donate.  Every little bit helps!
But there are other ways to help!
  • Volunteer to work on our LIGHT UP THE OPERA HOUSE campaign by emailing us at  We’ll let you know the ways you can help!
  • Spread the word!  Let others know that we need help.
  • Donate used your used incandescent light bulbs (the old-fashioned kind) for an upcoming project to raise funds. (Any shape or size of incandescent bulbs welcome – please no florescent or LED bulbs.)  Bulbs can be dropped off at the Box Office or left in a collection box by the back door of the Opera House at any time.
NOHA thanks you for your help in advance!
